Jo, the Director of Contrary Mary Cakes and long time friend, already had very strong visual branding in place. She approached me to see if I’d be interested in taking on the redesign of her website, initially seemingly worried that it was a departure from my previous work. If anything, this made it more appealing, so of course I said yes!
During the course of building the website, I designed and integrated an overlay logo for the home page image, due to the fact that the original Contrary Mary logo was a little too complex for that purpose. Jo liked the logo so much that she asked me to produce a larger version for the new shop premises that also came about during the development of the website.
The logo design for the shop vinyl followed, along with additional wording and graphics to compliment it, with the shop itself opening in late January 2017.
The new Contrary Mary Cakes website launched in February 2017, proudly designed by DirtyPixel.
